The Sacramento Kings have recently introduced several updates to their basketball court, reflecting both historical tributes and modern design elements. One significant change in 2023 is the debut of a new court specifically created for the NBA's inaugural In-Season Tournament. This design is part of a broader NBA initiative to distinguish tournament games visually from regular season matchups. The Kings' court features a predominantly
gray color scheme with dark blue accents that tie into their alternate logo. This look also pays homage to the franchise’s original identity as the Rochester Royals.
Additionally, the court incorporates distinctive features like the NBA Cup logo, which appears prominently near the center and under each basket, a nod to the prestigious tournament prize. The design breaks away from traditional hardwood aesthetics by adding bold colors along the key areas, contributing to the excitement of the new tournament.
For their regular games, the Kings will continue to play at the Golden 1 Center, which is known for its state-of-the-art facilities and energy-efficient design. The team also plans to celebrate its rich history during the 2024-25 season with a "Classic Edition" court design and uniforms. This will commemorate 40 years of basketball in Sacramento, featuring throwback elements like the team’s purple and white jerseys first seen in the early 2000s.
